OBITUARY
Artimesa (Artimisa) Washburn-Beaman was born in Indiana, April 10, 1842. She was married to G.W. Beaman April 13, 1859. They came to Kansas in 1859, settling at Garnett. They returned to Indiana in 1860. Mr. Beaman then enlisted in the Union Army and served 3 years and 6 months. At the close of the war they returned to Kansas and in the year 1873 they settled on a farm 4 miles south of Bronson.
Eleven children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Beaman: Sylvester H., Ed L., George N., Nettie, Robert M., Joe L., Charles G., William P., Florence, Alta, and Dora. There are 52 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren. There have been born to them 98 descendants. The husband died August 12, 1906. Mrs. Beaman lived for a number of years just west of Bronson, then when old age overtook her, she went to live with her daughter, Florence, and resided there until her death, February 16, 1923, at the age of 80 years, 10 months and 6 days.
Funeral rites were held Sunday afternoon at the M.E. church in Bronson, the funeral address, by request of the deceased, being made by Dr. J.S. Cummings, for many years her physician. Interment was made in the Bronson cemetery.
