John Bermel, 80, died suddenly at 4:50 o'clock yesterday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Joseph Hashman, 1813 West Grand avenue, south.

He is survived by his wife; four sons, John, William and Pete Bermel, of Springfield; Fred, of Chicago; four daughters, Mrs. Joseph Hashman and Mrs. John Jones, of Springfield; Mrs. William Christie, of Chicago; and Mrs. William Durham [sic?], of Los Angeles.

He was a member of local No. 448, United Mine Workers of America.
