Mrs. Annie Levise Bowhan, widow of Thomas J. Bowhan and the oldest resident of the Libertytown vicinity, died at home at six o'clock Tuesday morning of general debility.
Having fractured her hip in a fall in 1935, Mrs. Bowhan was an invalid but enjoyed good health otherwise. Last fall she enjoyed a trip to York, Pa., to visit with her son and two daughters. Mrs. Bowhan's chief ambition was to live to be a hundred. During her confinement to the wheelchair, Mrs. Bowhan's disposition remained cheerful and her mind clear.
Her son, Thomas J. Bowhan has been his mother's caretaker and constant companion in recent years.
A daughter of Enoch and Sarah Barnhart Garber, of Frederick County, the deceased was aged 101 years, 6 months and 7 days. She is survived by her two sons, Edward, York, Pa. and Thomas J. at home, two daughters, Mrs. Lewis M. Sowers and Mrs. Joseph Keeney, both of York, Pa., eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. George Steel, of Sunbury, Pa.
Funeral services will be held at the late home with further rites at the Methodist Church in Liberty at to p.m. Friday. Services will be conducted by Rev. Robert Wesley and Rev. G.E. W??der. Interment in Fairmount Cemetery in Liberty. Powell and Hartzler, funeral directors.
