John Percival Succumbs at 72

John S. Percival Sr., 72, of 2488 Lakeshore Dr., died at Holland Hospital early this morning following an extended illness.

Born in Richmond, Mo., Percival was graduated as a civil engineer from the University of Missouri in 1915 and ha been employed as an engineer by the city of Detroit for many years prior to his retirement in 1960.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge at Fonda, Iowa. He moved to Holland 2-1/2 years ago where he resided with his son and daughter-in-law, Mr and Mrs. John S. Percival, Jr. He had served in the U. S. Army during World War I.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Jack (Jacqueline) Price of Plymouth, three sons, John S. Jr. of Holland, Frank B. of Detroit and Fred C. Christie of Long Beach, California; 18 grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Robert C. French of El Dorado, Kan.

The body will be taken from the Notier-Ver Lee-Langeland Chapel to the Lawrence J. Griffin Funeral Home in Detroit where services will be held Tuesday afternoon. Burial will be in Woodlawn cemetery in Detroit.(Holland Evening Sentinel, Jul 24 1964 p 10)

John's first wife, Mary Bowman, is buried in MachPelah Cemetery, Lexington, Lafayette county, Missouri.
