Ambrose H. Walter, 89, retired foreman carpenter for the Reading Railroad, died this morning at 10:00 at Gettysburg R.3, where he had lived for the last two years at the home of Mrs. Mary Gilbert, a nurse.

Formerly he had resided with a son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Palmer, 59 E. Water St., since the death in 1935 of his wife, the former Bruce Mae Houck. Mr. Walter retired from the Reading company's employ in 1936.

He was a native of Biglerville and a son of the late Charles C. P. and Leniva (Hartzell) Walter. He was a member of Redeemer's Lutheran Church, Harrisburg.

Surviving are the daughter, Mrs. Palmer; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services at the Bender Funeral Home Thursday afternoon at 2:00 with the Rev. Dr. Henry W. Sternat, Biglerville, officiating. Interment in the Biglerville Cemetery.
