One of the most elderly citizens of the Jabez community, Mrs. Ida M. Smith, passed away Sunday, July 28, 1968 at the age of 88. The widow of Cornelius Wade Smith, she had been ill for a long time.

Mrs. Smith is survived by four sons and four daughters: Rev. Ota Estel Smith of Russell Springs, Otha Oswald Smith of Norwood, Ohio, Yuletide Smith of Loveland, Ohio, Carlie Erthel Smith of Cincinnati, Stella Chumbley of Shelbyville, Indiana, Vonnie Green of Cherry Fork, Ohio, Eva Polston, Jabez and Elsie Johnson, Greenfield, Ohio; 39 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Services were conducted Tuesday, July 30 at 2 pm at Christian Home Church by Rev. James D. Gadberry and Henry Popplewell. Music was provided by The Coffey Family of Russell Springs. Interment, with arrangements by H.E. Pruitt Memory Chapel, was in Military Spring Cemetery at Jabez. Pallbearers were grandsons.

Mrs. Smith has many friends in Wayne County.
