Frank Roberts of Waco, completed his life journey Saturday, Feb. 14, 2009. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey.

Frank was born in Bartlett, Texas, to Maborne and Jessie Roberts. He married Marjorie McMullan of Corsicana, on Jan. 3, 1947. Frank grew up on a farm with a strong work ethic and excelled in his school studies. After graduation, he moved to Temple, where he owned the Shamrock Café from 1936-1943. He was drafted in World War II and served with the 7th Army, 260 Combat Engineers. After the war, Frank moved to Waco, where he opened the Shamrock Café on LaSalle. The drive-in was popular with city residents, high schools, and Baylor students.

In 1952, Frank began a new career with General Electric Supply in Waco. In 1956, he became a sales counselor for GE's major appliance division. He received the GE National Sales Counselor Award three times over his sales career. He retired in 1980 and began working part-time for Woody Jackson Chevrolet in McGregor, until 1983. In retirement, he delivered for Cogdell Methodist's Meals on Wheels Ministry. Frank also served as Sunday school superintendent for Brookview and Cogdell Methodist Churches for over 30 years. Because of his love of 42, games, and fellowship, he helped organize and name the Half Century Club at Cogdell, a group of senior adults who continue to meet bimonthly.

Frank had a passion for baseball and volunteered as an assistant and head coach for both Little and Jr. Teenage Leagues Baseball from 1964-72. Although he never attended Baylor, Frank was an avid Baylor sports fan. For 50 years, he worked at the Baylor Stadium main parking gate and later, the VIP/RV parking.

He was preceded in death by an infant son; his parents; a brother, Aubrey; sister, Irene; and son-in-law, Lanny Garner.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marge; sons, Frank Roberts Jr. and wife, Judy, of Harker Heights, Randall Roberts, and wife, Brenda, of Hewitt, and Robin Roberts and wife, Susan, of Evergreen, Colo.; daughter, Ronda Garner, of Panhandle, Texas; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
