Joseph Michael Landry, 69, of Salem, S.C., died Saturday, Feb. 7, 2009, at his residence.

He was born in Madison, the son of Richard Joseph and Mary Ruth Dunn Landry. He retired from Rexnord Corp. as president of the Engineered Chain and Idler Divisions. He was an ordained deacon in the First Baptist Church in Madison and coordinated the Macedonia Ministry, a lay witness program for Indiana. He was assistant Scout master of Jefferson County and had served on the Boy Scout board. He had also served as president of the Madison Kiwanis Club and as the United Way drive chairman. In Springfield, Mass., he served on the board of directors for Junior Chamber of Commerce and Campus Crusade, and was on the Mature Industry Appointed Commission of Massachusetts by Gov. Michael Dukakis. In Oconee County. S.C., he was an ordained elder of the Walhalla Presbyterian Church, served on the stewardship and finance committee and was a coordinator of Shepherd Ministry. He was active in the Keowee Key Men's Golf Association and in bowling leagues. He rolled a 299 game in 1999 in the couples league in Anderson, S.C. He and his son, Rick won the Men's Member Guest Golf Tournament at Keowee Key Country Club in 2002.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Lee Clapp Landry; one son, Richard D. Landry of West Suffield, Conn.; one brother, Frank E. Landry Audubon, Pa.; and two sisters, Sharon Landry Hord of Longs, S.C., and Linda Lee Dunscombe of Tuscaloosa, Ala.

The funeral was at Walhalla Presbyterian Church, Walhalla, S.C. Burial was in Oconee Memorial Park in Seneca, S.C.
