Bertha A. Polzin Dies Here at 82
Services Tentatively Planned for Sunday
Mrs. Bertha A. Polzin, 82, of 825 Maple St. died about 2 a.m. today in Ft. Atkinson Memorial Hospital, where she had been a patient for several weeks.
The body is at the Nitardy funeral home. Services are tentatively planned for Sunday.
Mrs. Polzin is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Leslie W. Klement, with whom she made her home, and one son Earl Baxter, Austin; 10 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Frank Traichel, Whitewater.

Mrs. Bertha Polzin
Funeral services for Mrs. Bertha Polzin, 82, of 825 Maple St. died about 1:30 a.m. Friday at Ft. Atkinson Memorial hospital, were held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Nitardy funeral home and at 2 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran church. The Rev. Henry Gieschen officiated. Interment was in Lake View cemetery. Pall bearers were her nephews, Carl, Henry, Will, and Fred Papke, all from Whitewater.
The former Bertha Papcke was born in Germany on Mar. 31, 1868, and came to this country at the age of 1, living on a farm about three miles east of Ft. Atkinson. Her marriage to Lazerus Baxter occurred in June 1880, and the couple, to whom two children were born, lived in Milaca, Minn.
Mr. Baxter's death occurred in September, 1903. Two years later Mrs. Baxter returned to Fort Atkinson. In 1908 she was married to Gottlieb Polzin. They resided in Medford until 1912 when Mrs. Polzin returned to Fort Atkinson. Much of the remainder of the time she lived with her daughter, Mrs. Leslie W. Klement.
Mrs. Polzin was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran church.
Surviving, in addition to her daughter, are a son, Earl Baxter, Austin, Minn; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Frank Traichel, Whitewater.
