Marena Ann Branstetter (nee) Montgomery was born in Phelps Co., May 11, 1859, died at her home in St. James, Jan. 26, 1938 at the age of 78 years, 8 months, 15 days.
She was the daughter of Thomas S. and Mary Jane (Vaughn)Montgomery. She had 11 siblings: John, William C, Sarah E., Nancy E., Edna, Melissa J., Mary J., Matilda, Alice, Thomas F., and Frances Montgomery.
She was united in marriage with Elcanah A. Branstetter, Dec. 3, 1874. To this union was born 10 children: Norah E., Edna J., Dorsey S., Zaddie A., James C., Thomas M., Mary P., Morris E., Myrtle M., and Wm. H. Branstetter.
More than 50 years ago she united with the Christian Church at High Grove and has since been a faithful member.
She is survived by her husband, Elcanah Branstetter and nine children: Mrs. L. J. Rinehart, D. S. Branstetter, Mrs. H. E. Emory, J. C. Branstetter, T. M. Branstetter, Mrs. C. G. Sewell, Mrs. G. B. Sewell and Wm. Branstetter, all of St. James, and M. E. Branstetter of Sappington, Mo.; 22 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren; one brother, Frank Montgomery; 2 sisters, Mrs. Nancy Galloway and Mrs. Matilda Frase, and a number of other relatives and friends. One child, Edna J., preceded her in death.
Funeral Services were held at the Licklider Funeral Home, Friday, conducted by Rev. Romine of Rolla.

Per the death certificate, Marena died of cerebral hemorrhage, other cause- valvular heart disease since 1936.
