Daughter of Zemina Maude Young and Raplee Watson McBurney. Wife of Charles Lemon Munson, Jr.

Zemina McBurney Munson, 89, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2009, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Baton Rouge on Aug. 17, 1919, Mrs. Munson moved to Zachary in 1947 with her husband, Charles L. Munson Jr. The Munsons were owners of Zachary's first service station, Charley Mc's Esso Center. Mrs. Munson will be warmly remembered for her joyous smile, her positive attitude and for her Christian witness. A faithful member of Plains Presbyterian Church, Mrs. Munson was also a joyful choir member for more than 40 years. She is survived by a daughter, Evelyn Munson Williamson and husband Warren L. Williamson, Beaufort, S.C.; a son, Charles McBurney Munson, St. Francisville; a sister, Marguerite McBurney Van de Mark and husband Kenneth, Ocala, Fla.; a brother, Raplee Young McBurney and wife Martha Crews McBurney, Alexandria; a nephew, Raplee C. McBurney and wife Charlotte, Jacksons Gap, Ala.; four grandchildren, Michael Warren Williamson and wife Stacie, Raleigh, N.C., Elizabeth Adele Williamson, Reston, Va., Scott Anthony Munson, Cape Cod, Mass., and Vicki Zemina Munson Whetstone and husband Russell, Zachary; and three great grandchildren, Whitman, Miller and Merritt Williamson, all of Raleigh. Mrs. Munson was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Charley Munson; and her parents, Maude Zemina Young McBurney and Raplee Watson McBurney. A graveside service will be held at the Young Family Cemetery, Zachary, a memorial service, conducted by the Rev. Richard D. Bailey, the Rev. A. Campbell Silman and the Rev. Dr. Parker T. Williamson. Pallbearers will be three of Mrs. Munson's grandchildren, Michael, Elizabeth and Vicki; family members, Rap McBurney and Russell Whetstone; and friends, Wayne Robinson Charles Synder and Ben Toler.
