COOKEVILLE Funeral services for John Albert Ward I, 68, of Cookeville will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 6, from the chapel of Cookeville Funeral Home. Burial will be in Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery with full military honors. The family will receive friends from 4-9 p.m. today, April 5, and from 10 a.m. until time of services Thursday at the funeral home.
Mr. Ward died Tuesday, April 4, 2006, in Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
He was born May 9, 1937, in Putnam County to the late Albert and Ida Ruth Gentry Ward.
Mr. Ward worked as an entrepreneur in the grocery business. He was affiliated with the Church of Christ.
His family includes his wife, Judie Jernigan Ward of Cookeville; two daughters and sonsinlaw, Lisa Dianne and Jerry Duncan of Springfield, Johnna Kay and Jeff Ellis of Cedar Hill; two sons and daughtersinlaw, John Albert and Kay Ward, Jeffrey Dwain and Lisa Jernigan, all of Cookeville; a sister and brotherinlaw, Emma Jean and Harold Burchett of Cookeville; a brother and sisterinlaw, Edward and Jo Carol Ward of Mayland; 11 grandchildren, Katelyn, Holli and Hunter Duncan, Kayla Meyers, Cody and Cole
Ellis, Ryan and Jadelyn Ward and Rebekah, Timothy and Zachery Sparkman Jernigan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Dorise Dean Thomas.
