Mrs. Effie May Swartz, 67, of 129 West Kingstreet died Saturday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Bruce Hockersmith, after an illness of three months. She had been critically ill for one week. Mrs. Swartz was born November 20, 1880 in Upper Mifflin Township, and was a member of the Newburg Evangelical United Brethren Church. She was the widow of Joseph A Swartz. She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Oscar Book, Richmond Furnace, Mrs. Vesta Bashore, Mechanicsburg, Mrs. Hockersmith of town, Mrs. Frank Hensel, Mechanicsburg, two sons, J. Lee Swartz of Paterson, New Jersey, and Harry R. Swartz of Mechanicsburg; four sisters, Mrs. Dale Brehm of Carlisle, Mrs. Joe Negley of Newville, Mrs. Samuel Brownawell and Mrs. Harper Brehm, both of Carlisle; also by two brothers, Raymond Boyd of Mechanicsburg, and George Boyd of Plainfield; 19 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock from the Van Seyoc Funeral home by the Rev. M.R. Heiland of Parkton, Maryland, assisted by the Rev. Percy Boughey. Burial will be in the Newville cemetery. Friends were invited to call at the funeral home Monday evening after 7 o'clock.
