Mrs. Lena P. Shackelford, age 83, died Tuesday, July 4, 1995, at Aurora Australis Lodge, Columbus, Mississippi. Mrs. Shackelford was born on September 9, 1911 in Hamilton, Mississippi. She was the daughter of Luther D. and Adeline Pennington. She was a longtime resident of Columbus, Mississippi and graduated from Hamilton High School. She was retired from Caledonia Mfg. and was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church. She was preced in death by her husband, Alton Shackelford. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 7, 1995 from the Chapel of Memorial Funeral Home in Columbus, MS. Bro Tim Williams was the officiating minister. Burial was in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home. Survivors include her brother, Bill Pennington of Verono, AL; three sisters: Bessie Malone, Lydia Crossley and Lorene Doughty all of Columbus, MS; and several nieces and nephews. Active pallbearers were Robert Malone, Dennis Doughty, Kerry Doughty, Mark Bezou, Dale Pennington and Tommy Noblin.. Memorials may be made to American Heart Association, P. O.
