WINNABOW - Mr. John Preston Lewis, 81, of 648 George II Highway, S.E.. died Thursday, Nov. 25, 1993 at Dosher Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Mill Creek Baptist Church, where he was a member and trustee, with Rev. Rocky L. Gregory and Rev. Avery Lumsden officiating. Interment will follow in Northwood Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons, Brian Sullivan, Jeff and Tim Johnson, Stuart Lewis, Stephen Russ, Ross Miller, Robert Dittmer, and Michael King.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be members of the Wednesday Morning Breakfast Club, Bill Dunn, Carl Rike, Walt Moore, Paul Setnicky, Pete Fogleman, Jim Riese, Don Fenstermacher, Burt Buckbee, and Sam Turn.
Mr. Lewis was born Sept. 18, 1912, in Southport, son of the late Melvin Lewis Sr. and Mary Cumbee Lewis. He was retired from Hopper dredge service, with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and was a member of the Wednesday Morning Breakfast Club.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-seven years, Mrs, Alda Spencer Lewis of the home; a son, James M. Lewis of Beaufort; three daughters, Janet Sullivan of Wilmington, Jean L. Kivette of Danbury, and Mary L. Russ of Shallotte; nine grandchildren; and eight grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the residence.
