Ruskin farmer dies after fall from tractor.

A Ruskin farmer, Benny Christensen, 51, died Sunday in the Thayer County Memorial Hospital in Hebron from injuries received Thursday in a farm accident on his farm.

Family members said the mishap occurred while Christensen was fertilizing with anhydrous ammonia. The trailer pin came uncoupled and broke pulling the hose loose from the tank behind the applicator.

It is believed Christensen was trying to jump from the tractor to avoid the fumes when he fell beneath the tractor and the vehicle ran over him.

Complications from a number of broken ribs, a fractured shoulder blade and punctured right lung were the apparent cause of his death.

Funeral services were Wednesday at 2 p.m., at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Ruskin. The Rev. John Sorenson officiated and interment was in Spring Creek Cemetery. The Megrue-Price Funeral Home of Superior was in charge of arrangements.

Survivors are his wife, Charlotte; sons, Doyle of Rising City and Randy of the home; daughters, Mrs. Larry Judy (Dorcas) of Hardy, Mrs. Rocky Renz (Rogene) of Ruskin and Rhonda of the home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Christensen of Ruskin; two brothers, Donald of Riceville, Iowa, and Willard of Hardy; and one grandson, Brian Judy.
