James Henry Landers, aged 63 years pioneer resident of this county, died at the family residence (sic - actually died in a Dallas hospital) Wednesday morning at 11 o'clock following a protracted illness. Mr. Landers is survived by his wife, three sons, Willis Landers of Tuscola; Dave Landers of Dallas and Emmett Landers of Abilene; and four brothers and three sisters: S. M. Landers of Tuscola; W. J. Landers of Abilene; J. R. Landers of Ovala and S. T. Landers of Lawn; and Mrs. M. E. Keller of Tuscola, Mrs. J. G. Williams of Ovala and Mrs. N. J. Roberts of Abilene.
Mr. Landers as born in Alabama August 23, 1857 and moved to Texas in 1895 settling in the Ovalo section where he resided until five years ago when he moved to Abilene. Mr. Landers was known and beloved by scores of persons in this city and in Taylor county.
Funeral arrangements had not been completed at an early hour Wednesday afternoon.
