Otis W. Johnson was born on April 4th, 1886 on a farm in the Puyallup Valley. At the age of ten years he went with his father to Juneau Alaska. When the gold excitement broke out he went to Skagway and was one of the first news boys. In 1899 he traveled on the trail to Atlin, B.C., going to Dawson with a dog team of his own during the following winter. Having tired of Alaska he followed his father, O. W. Johnson, to Ephrata some ten years ago and has been interested with his father more or less ever since. Otis was married at Soap Lake to Miss Susie Sparks, January 12th, 1913.
He leaves a widow, Susie Johnson, a sister Mrs. Chas. Crawford of Seattle, and Mrs. Kara Donnellon of Los Angeles, and his father, O. W. Johnson of Ephrata, Wash.
He was hurt in an automobile accident a few years ago and was near death for weeks. He never recovered fully and his head bothered him at times and when in one of these
despondent spells came to his untimely death.
