Nell was born Nov. 12, 1915, in Lakeview. She graduated from Memphis High School in 1932. She taught school in Lakeview, kindergarten at Carswell and Wycliff Elementary for 30 years.
She was an inspiration to many who continued their education and became teachers and administrators. Nell loved her country and was a dedicated military wife, who traveled over seas with her husband. She truly enjoyed life at Carswell Air Force Base.
She was a loving, kind, wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who dedicated her life to education and helping people. Her passion of giving, offering kindness, love to her family and friends was her life. She was always a Texan at heart, a true cowgirl who loved to watch her daughter and granddaughter show their horses.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, retired U.S. Air Force Chief Warrant Officer Earl Lee "Honey" Knight.
Survivors: Daughter, Donna Pressly; granddaughter, Dawnell Shelley Herndon and husband, Nathan; great-grandson, Zane Herndon; and many loving cousins and friends.
