Everett Glendon Aldridge, 76, of Geneseo died Monday, May 28, 2007, at Good Samaritan Village, Geneseo. Funeral services were held Thursday, May 31, at Vandemore Funeral Home Ltd., Geneseo. The Rev Arthur Bergren officiated. Burial was in the National Cemetery, Rock Island where Military Rites were accorded by the Moline American Legion Post 246. Memorals may be made to the Glendon Aldridge Memorial Fund.
He was born June 24, 1930, in Grape Creek, Texas, the son of John and Fern (Hughes) Aldridge. He married Helen Williams on Feb. 1, 1953, in Eldorado, Texas. He served his country in the US Air Force during the Korean War. He was in the trucking industry driving a truck and doing mechanic work in Texas until he retired in 1996. He was of the Baptist Faith and enjoyed woodworking.
Survivors include his wife, Helen; one daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Robert Verdick of Geneseo; one son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Eddie Aldridge of Gold Bar, Wash; three grandchildren and spouse, Keri and Glen Kenney of Boise, Idaho, Jonna Mae and Jerry Glendon Verdick of Geneseo, one great grandson, Matt Kenney of Boise, Idaho; one brother and sister-in-law, V.J. and Marie Mitchell of Celina, Texas, one sister and brother-in-law, Maudie and Roy Short of Fort Stockton, Texas; several nieces and nephews and one sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Juanice and Charles Orr of Eldorado, Texas. He was preceded in death by his mother, Fern Aldridge Mitchell; his father, John Earnest Aldridge; his stepfather, Jerome Mitchell and two brothers, Rubel Aldridge and Alton Mitchell.

Gravesite Details
First name on headstone is spelled with one "t" in Everett. The VA said that this is the spelling they would have to use since in all his military records the name was spelled with one "t".
