A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 14, at Clearview Baptist Church in Mayodan, N.C. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Smith was a native Mayodan, N.C., but had lived in Greensboro for the past 55 years. She was born on January 8, 1919, to the late Sam and Maggie Holyfield Cook. She was a retired nursery school teacher, and was also a longtime member of Clearview Baptist Church in Mayodan. Sarah was blessed with a great sense humor and a love of reading books and her precious Holy Bible. She will also be remembered as a gifted amateur artist and the best mother and grandmother a person could have ever hoped for.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Mildred "Mickey" Strader and husband, Harold of Julian, Alice Lewis and husband, Phil of Greensboro, Alfred "Buddy" Smith, JR of Arlington, Va., and James Smith and wife, Wanda of Morehead City, N.C.; 10 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Smith and her son, Ronnie Smith.
