He was born July 8, 1928, at Hiram, Mo., son of Floyd Hershel and Nellie Hill Barks. He and Shirley Lou Hoxworth were married Feb. 24, 1961, at Marble Hill.
Barks was a graduate of Greenville High School and attended Southeast Missouri State University. He taught school at Turkey Creek School near Clubb, Mo., was a foreman at Deevers Shoe Factory, retired as plant manager at International Hat Factory and was a consultant with Henschel Hat Manufacturing.
He was a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church at Clubb and was chairman of Bollinger County Republican Party 12 years.
His wife survives.
He was preceded in death by a brother.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hutchings Funeral Chapel in Marble Hill.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the chapel, with the Rev. Jim Schultz officiating. Burial will be in Greenville Cemetery at Greenville, Mo
