SOUTHPORT-Mr. Walter Lee Aldridge, 89, died Tuesday, December 31, 2002, at Dosher Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Southport Baptist Church, where he was a member and lifetime deacon, with Dr. Wayne Adkisson officiating. Interment with Masonic rites accorded by Pythagoras Lodge #249 will follow in Old Southport Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be members of Southport Fire Department.
Mr. Aldridge was born November 25, 1913, in Southport, son of the late Lee B. and Zulima Woodsides Aldridge. He was retired City Auditor for the City of Southport, a former member of Southport Board of Aldermen, and a member of Pythagoras Lodge #249 A.F. & A.M., and retired from Southport Fire Department.
He was the widower of Pearl Potter Aldridge and is survived by 2 sons, Lee Aldridge and wife Shaaron and Dickie Aldridge and wife Debbie, all of Southport; 2 grandsons, Scott and Randy Aldridge; and 2 great-grandchildren, Bailey and Carson Aldridge.
The family will receive friends at Peacock-Newnam Funeral Home from 7-8 p.m. Wednesday and at other times will be at the home of Lee Aldridge, 105 N. Fodale Avenue, Southport.
