Mr. Arthur James Riggs, 86, died peacefully at his home early Saturday, under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. The Bulloch County native served in the U.S. Army during WWII in Europe. He was a retired farmer and machinist from Brooks Instruments. He was of the Primitive Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Marilyn Jones Riggs; three sons: Arthur J. Riggs Jr. "Jamie"(Catherine) of Richmond Hill, Michael Riggs(Marsha) of Atlanta, and Phillip Riggs(Felice) of Statesboro; one sister, Doloris Durden(Kenneth) of Vidalia; seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Sunday from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. at Hodges-Moore Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held at Monday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Hodges-Moore Funeral Home with Elder Hoyt Sims officiating.
Burial will be in Lower Lotts Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ogeechee Area Hospice, P.O. Box 531, Statesboro, GA 30459
