Melvin E. Benson, 74, of 1235 Larkspur Lane NW, died Tuesday in a Salem hospital.
A native of Elgin, Iowa, he came here in 1937. He was a farmer and carpenter until his retirement about 10 years ago.
Parents are Bjorn and Borghild (Lien) Benson.
Married to Carmen Schweikert.
Surviving are his widow, Carmen, Salem; two sons, Leonard, Salem, and Bernard, Dallas; five sisters, all in Iowa, and eight grandchildren.
Services and interment will be in Elgin, Iowa. Rigdon's Colonial Chapel has charge of local arrangements.
