Mary Elouise Goodwin, age 82 of Fawil in Newton County, Texas died on Saturday, February 7, 2009 at her residence. She was born on February 3, 1927 and was a lifelong resident of Newton County. She was retired from Newton I.S.D. as the custodial supervisor.

She is survived by her sons, Calton Goodwin and wife, Linda of Kirbyville, Kenneth Goodwin and wife, Fara of Seattle Washington, Tommy Goodwin and wife, Frances of Wichita Falls, Texas and Paul Goodwin and wife, Kathy of Nederland, her daughters, Laverne Woodruff and husband, Don of Willis, Texas and Glenda Boyd of Roanes Prairie, Texas, sisters, Louise Fuller and Jane Jacobs of Newton and Billie Carter of Port Townsend, Washington, 17 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren and 3 great great grand- children.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ellis Goodwin and their son, Wayne Goodwin.

Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Wednesday from 12:00 until 3:00 pm. Funeral services will begin at 3:00 pm on Wednesday February 11, 2009 at Smith Funeral Home in Newton with burial to follow at Sam Herrin Cemetery in the Fawil Community.
