A. D. Middleton, 65, well-known Glynn County resident, died late Thursday afternoon at his home at Thalmann, where he had resided for many years. He had been ill for only a short time.
Mr. Middleton was well known throughout this county and section. He had served as postmaster at Thalmann for many years and was also Justice of the Peace of the Thalmann District. He served regularly as election manager at Thalmann and was named to serve in that capacity by the Glynn County executive committee at its meeting on Tuesday. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 391, of Nahunta.
Besides his widow, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. D. D. Arnett, of Thalmann; and Mrs. Curtis Edson, of Vidalia; and two sons, A. D. Middleton, Jr., Hickox, and Glenn Middleton, Waycross.
Funeral services were to have been held at Raulerson Cemetery, Friday afternoon at three o'clock, but in making the trip the hearse carrying the body and the truck with the box were stuck in mud and delayed until late in the evening, delaying the burial until after nightfall. Several friends from Nahunta attended the services.
