John Hans Henry Ober - Over is a son of Jacob Johannes Hans Oberer and Anna Marya Abezant. John married Christina Bricker in 1760, West Cocalico, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania - to this union 8 children are known: Anna Mary - Elisabeth - Catherine - Fanny - Jacob - Henry - Barbara and Christian. This family were Pennsylvania Mennonites. John served in the Revolutionary War: 1775 - Pennsylvania Battalions and Militias under Captain Joseph Gehr: 4th and 5th Company and Under Colonel John Huber, 6 and 9th Battalion. Battles founght: Brandywine - Paoli - Germantown - Monmouth and Springfield. John purchased 272 acres of land in 1785 in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. John Ober and his wife are buried with other famiy members in the Over Cemetery, which is now on private property and not being cared for. The cemetery is on the property at 7284 Valley Camp Road, St. Thomas Township, There is a "No Trespassing Sign" posted so you must ask permission at the house to go up the dirt road to see the cemetery. Most gravestones are down and the printed sides are facing the ground. John Ober and his wife's stone are unreadable, but four of the children and their families are buried there, and some of their stones can still be made out. John's children that are buried there include: Anna Maria (Mary), Jacob, Henry, and Barbara.
