Adeline Essary was born 7 Feb 1845 in TN, daughter of Thomas Essary and Matilda Jackson. She moved to Lawrence County, MO with her mother in 1851 and married John Brown on 6 March 1864. The 1880 Lawrence County census shows them with 5 children, ages 2 through 15. Children are: William T., John Henry, Minnie, James Edgar, Mary Elizabeth, and Effie. Also with them is John C. Cherry, age 21. (Adeline's sister Sarah Elizabeth married James J. Cherry.) Later, the Essary family had two more children, Lulie and Rosella. In the 1880 census, they are shown with only Rossella (age 16) at home. Adeline Pauline Essary Brown died 31 Dec 1927 at her home in Mount Vernon, MO, of a stroke.
