Pneumonia Takes Man Who Was for Most of Life an Ionia County Resident.
Saranac, October 2. – A telegram was received here Sunday stating that Clarence
E. Pack, aged 55 years, had passed away Sunday at 4 p.m., after a few years
illness of pneumonia at the home of his brother, Clyde Peck, at Roselawn, Upper
Peninsula. He had been enjoying fairly good health while spending some time
with his brother in the north, until Sunday, September 23, when he was taken
ill. The fatal disease quickly develop the following Saturday. Death occurred
Sunday.
Mr. Pack had been a highly respected resident of Saranac the past three years
and also one of Keene township’s most esteemed and well-known citizens for
nearly 40 years, always living on the farm he now owns north of Keene Grange
hall, with the exception of the five years spent in the Upper Peninsula near the
place where he died. He leaves the widow, one daughter, Mrs. Ray Conner, of
Keene, and one son Carl, at home. One son Howard preceded him to the great
beyond five years ago.
Undertaker W.E. Densmore left Monday for Roselawn to accompany the body here.
The funeral announcement will be made later.
