Ionia Daily Sentinel - February 23, 1963

Mrs. Maude I. Jones, 83, of 411 1/2 West Main Street, died at 8 pm Friday evening at the Ionia County Memorial hospital where she had been a patient several weeks. Mrs.Jones, who also lived at Saranac Route Two, was the widow of Lee Jones, Ionia merchant for many years. She was born near Vermontville, March 17, 1879, the daughter of Henry and Mae Fashbaugh. The family moved to the Saranac area when Mrs. Jones was small. Following graduation form Saranac schools she taught rural schools in Ionia County several years.

She was married August 12, 1904 to Lee E Jones of Saranac. They operated meat markets in Saranac and Lowell and in 1917 moved to Ionia where they opened a meat market at 411 West Main Street.

Mrs. Jones is survived by three children, Jack E. Jones of Saranac rural route, Mrs. Clayton G. (Kathryn) Harwood of Ionia, and Grace Jones of Detroit, three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted from the Morris funeral home at Saranac Monday at 2:30 pm. Burial will be at Saranac cemetery.
