First look at the place of birth and place of death can be misleading. Herb was born in Yorktown, Texas, but family removed to Maxwell County shortly after his birth. He lived around the area his entire life. At the time he died he was residing in a Lockhart Retirement home, but was transported to a hospital in Austin the day he died.

Herbert Wilhelm Schulle (4th Child of Fritz and Kate Schulle) twin, was born August 16, 1897 in Yorktown, DeWitt County, Texas; died May 7, 1969 in Austin, Travis County, Texas. A search for the birth records of Herbert William in Yorktown uncovered a surprise for the fourth generation in this family. No living relative, nieces, nephews, or cousins had any memory of the following fact: Herbert was a twin to another boy, Erich Karl. They were baptized at the same time, but with different sponsors. Louise Poch, aunt, and Caroline Koerbel, grandmother were sponsors for Herbert Wilhelm. Namesake Joseph Karl Poch, uncle, and Dorothea Bunke Schulle, grandmother, was sponsor for Erich Karl.

Herbert is found next in the Ebenezer Lutheran Church Records in Maxwell, Texas, with his Father, Mother and two siblings. The rest of his siblings were born in Maxwell. Herbert married Mary Krueger, 1921, in Martindale, Texas.

Mary and Herbert first lived in Lockhart, then Maxwell, Texas, Caldwell County, later in Martindale. Mary died February 28, 1935, one month after the birth of their sixth child, Norman. Mary's sister took the newborn to live with them and raised him as their son; Herbert and his father raised the other children.
