Anna Connelly Roach was born ca. 1836 in Ireland. She is found in the 1880 Allen County, Madison Twp., Census as being 44 years of age. She is living with her husband, John J. and three children; Julia, age 13, John, age 11, and Mary, age 8. The first two children born in Illinois and the last child, Ohio.

Grandma Roach, aged companion of John Roach Sr., has been lying dangerously ill at the family residence in Madison township the past week.

After an illness of several weeks Grandma Roach, wife of John Roach Sr., died Wednesday morning, May 18th 1898 at the family country residence in Madison township three miles west of the town. The funeral will be held Friday morning at 9 o'clock from the house and at 10 o'clock services will be held at the St. Rose Catholic Church, conducted by her religious advisor Father L.R. Paquet after which interment will be in the Catholic cemetery south of town. Mother Roach was during life a most exemplary good, kind Christian woman, and in her death the companion, children, neighbors and friends have followed one to the grave whom will be greatly missed.

The funeral of Grandma Roach on Friday last was largely attended. The same can also be said of Mrs. Leuenberger, on Sunday, at the Marquardt church.
