Helton, Carl Gordon "Shorty" or "Pinky" age 83 of Maryville passed away Friday evening at the family home. A charter member of Springview Baptist Church where he served as Deacon for many years. He was a United States Army Veteran serving in World War II. He retired from ALCOA with over 40 years of service and a member of their 25-Year Club. Preceded in death by: Wife, Roberta Orr Helton; Parents, Ernest and Mary Alice Helton; Brothers, Wells, Bruce, and Olen Helton. Survivors include: Daughter and Son-in-law, Karla and Jeff Burris; Son and Daughter-in-law, Doug and Darlene Helton; Grandchildren, Kendra Burris Holt and husband Billy, Brooke Burris Patty and husband Jeremy, Kayla Burris and friend Matt Walker, Trae Helton and friend Becca Wampler and Chase Helton; Sisters, Ernestine and Bob DeBusk, Doris Hendricks both of Knoxville; Brothers, Ray and Nancy Helton of Cleveland, TN and Winston and Lyda Helton of Knoxville; many nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law and a host of many dear friends. Funeral service will be at 5:00 PM, Sunday, September 24, 2006 in the West Chapel of Smith Mortuary with Rev. Alvin Tallent and Rev. Guy Milam officiating. Family and friends will assemble at 10:00 AM, Monday, September 25, 2006 at Grandview Cemetery for the interment. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Springview Baptist Church, 4220 US Highway 411 S., Maryville, TN 37801.
