Minerva Adeline Brewer McMillan: My father remembers his great-grandmother as a serious-minded lady, but also soft and friendly and well respected in the community. She was tall and of average build and he remembers her long dresses and black boots with pearl buttons. My father says she was a very keen woman.

My father's cousin also remembers Grandma McMillan. "She lived her whole life within 10 miles of where she was born. And if you think Granny Clampett of the Beverly Hillbillies hated Yankees, you never talked to Granny McMillan! The Graybacks (Yankee sympathizers) did some mighty mean things to her and her parents."
