John W. Beeler of Bedford, IN, died Wednesday, July 22, 1998, at his residence. Born on June 23, 1929, in Haddonfield, NJ, he was the son of Andrew Balbirnie and Lillian ( Beahm) Beeler, Sr. He married Barbara Brown on July 22, 1950, in Bedford, IN, and she survives.

Also surviving are one son, John R. "Randy" Beeler of Mitchell, IN; one daughter, Cindy L. Miller of Mitchell, IN' one brother, Paul True "Hap" Beeler of Culpepper, VA; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Andrew Balbirnie Beeler, Jr.

He was a construction supervisor for Indiana Bell Telephone, retiring in 1983 with 31 years of service. A sergeant in the Marine Corps during the Korean War, he served in the First Marine Division, 7th Regiment, and received the Bronze Start with a Combat V. He was a member of the Bedford First Baptist Church, the Masonic Lodge No. 14, F&AM, Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis and the Cecil C. Martin American Legion Post No. 250.

Services for John Beeler will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 26th, at Chastain Funeral Home with Bro. Max Timbrook and the Rev. Robert Kirkman officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Graveside military rites will be accorded by members of Cecil C. Martin American Legion Post No. 250 and Marvin R. Davis Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107 in Mitchell.
