The inscription on Bessie's grave ledger cover shows she died on Nov. 12, 1922, but that is incorrect. Newspaper reportage in Birmingham, Alabama, and Columbus, Georgia local newspapers (see them in the photo section) as well as the interment record in the sexton's ledger, establish that she died on 12 Oct 1922 and was interred on 13 Oct 1922.
