Ernest was born October 29, 1904 at Rothville, the son of Charles Ernest and Vernie Crandall Serfass. In 1925 Ernest married Elma Bates Tomlen at Linneus, and she survives of the home in Marceline. Ernest was a lifelong farmer, and had lived in the Rothville area, until 14 years ago when he and his wife moved to Marceline.
Survivors include his wife, Elma Serfass of the home in Marceline; one son, Charles Ernest "Bud" Serfass of the home in Marceline; one daughter, Claribel Hubbard of Grain Valley; one sister, Norma Lee Lambert of Pacoima, California; three grandchildren, Jack Serfass of Marceline, Vicky Serfass of Marceline, and Randy Serfass of Moberly; four great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Ernest was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Lloyd, Oscar, and Walter Serfass, and one sister Ida Minich.
