Funeral services for Lamar James King, 80, Whigham, are 11:00 AM Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at Clark Funeral Home. The Rev. John Vanstone and Rev. Bill Gregg will officiate and interment will follow at Piedmont Cemetery in Calvary. Pallbearers will be his nephews, Mike King, Curtis King, Eddie Daughtry, Todd Cummings, Kyle Cummings, and Blake Hurst. Mr. King died Friday, January 16, 2009 at his residence.

Born December 10, 1928 in Thomas County, Georgia, he was the son of the late Charles Young King, Sr. and Donia Reichert King. He married Judy Hart, who survives, on July 1, 1958. He served his county in the United States Navy, was a route salesman with Golden Flake Potato Chips and was of the Methodist faith. After retirement from Golden Flake, he worked for ten years at Publix. After retiring the second time, he adopted the hobbies of fishing and farming.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Mickie and Hershel Cannon, Cairo, Ga., Tondra and Daryl Matthews, Tallahassee, Fla.; brother, Carl King, Boston, Ga., sister, Jeweldene Brightwell, Thomasville, Ga., grandchildren, Courtney Griffin and her husband, Tim, Cairo, Ga., Clayton Cannon, Cairo, Ga., Cody Cannon, Cairo, Ga., Lauren McLendon, Tallahassee, Fla., Chelsea McLendon, Tallahassee, Fla.; great-grandchildren, Ethan Griffin, Cairo, Ga., Joshua Griffin, Cairo, Ga., Brandon Cannon, Jacksonville, Fla., Hannah Cannon, Jacksonville, Fla.
