Funeral services for Roy"Duke"Myers, who died Tuesday in the Bethesda Nursing Center, Chant, will be 10:30 a.m. Friday in the Elsmore United Methodist Church. The Rev. Jean Mincing and Pastor Chub Bolling will officiate. Masonic graveside services will be in the Elsmore Cemetery. Myers was born Feb. 20, 1906, near Moran to William J and Perinea Willis Myers. On July 5, 1927, he married Dutch Fowler at Iola. They started the Cherry Blossom Cafe in Moran. In 1939 they moved from Moran to Elsmore where he operated a bulk tank wagon for Standard and Derby oil companies. They moved to Chant in 1981.
Myers was a member of the Elsmore United Methodist Church, was a charter member of the Elsmore Ruritan Club and a member of Masonic
Lodge No. 315 for over 50 years. Survivors include his wife, Dutch, a son, Roy Dean Myers and a daughter, Colette Myers Nelson, all of Chant; two brothers, Art, of Elsmore and Everett, Lakewood, Colo.; four sisters, Beulah Myers of Moran, Ona Schooley, Gasconade, Mo., Elf Justice of Manhattan and Lola Crum, Indianapolis; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Five brothers and a sister are deceased. The family
suggests memorials in his name be made to the Elsmore United Methodist church.
