Born in Anderson County, May 2, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Luther and Sarah (Sallie) Whitman Duncan. Mrs. Cothran had lived most of her life in the Travelers Rest area and was associated with Palmetto Garment Company before her retirement. she was a member of New Liberty Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband, Walter H. Cothran Sr.; a daughter, Evelyn R. Ligon of Greenville; three sons, Walter H. Cothran Jr. and Robert L. Cothran, both of Travelers Rest and John Samuel Cothran of Hollywood, California.; three sisters, Mrs. Helen D. McCombs and Ms. Lucy D. Staton, both of Marietta, S.C. and Mrs. Hazel D. Lynch of Travelers Rest; three brothers, Cecil Duncan and Cleland Duncan, both of Dacusville and Charles Duncan of Marietta; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
