OBITUARY: Mrs. Rebecca E. (Jones) Lafferty
Rebecca E. Jones was born in Martin County, Indiana June 2 in the year 1826. She was married to Silas S. Lafferty Dec 28, 1843. To this union was born ten children , six sons and four daughters, five sons and one daughter surviving to mourn the loss of a mother. She with her husband and children moved from Indiana to Kansas about 20 years ago and she had lived in this city and vicinity ever since that time. Her husband had preceded to the better world more than twelve years ago. Early in life she united with the Methodist Episcopal Church but shortly after marriage, with her husband she joined the Christian Church of which she remained an earnest, faithful member to the time of her death which occurred March 3rd 1905 at the home of her daughter Mrs. O.W. Hancock of this city after an illness of a few days. Last Saturday after noon she was laid to rest in Lincoln Cemetery. Rev. Miller preaching the funeral sermon.
