Melba Garbarino, 90, of 2245 W. Lake Road, Jamestown, died at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 3, 2009. Born June 9, 1918, in Punxsutawney, Pa., to Augustus and Emma (McCrum) McClincy, she married Senes Edward Garbarino, Sr. Nov. 6, 1942. He survives. She graduated from Clearfield High School, Clearfield, Pa., in 1936; and from Clearfield School of Nursing in 1942, as a registered nurse.
She retired from Greenville Hospital in 1971, after 13 years as a nurse. She was the former Democratic chairperson for Graham County, N.C. after her retirement.
She loved to cook, bake and can.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Senes Edward Garbarino Jr. and his wife, Leslie of Loveland, Colo., and Michael Douglas Garbarino of Englewood, Colo; two daughters, Mrs. Alessio (Jacquelyn) Girotti of Grand Turk Island, West Indies Islands, and Mary Wilson of Greenville; nine grandchildren; six greatgrandchildren, and many nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Rachael Ann Garbarino; two brothers, John McClincy and Donald McClincy; and two sisters, Beatrice Houser and Ruth McClincy.
A funeral mass will be 11 a.m. Monday at St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, 85 N. High St., Greenville, with Father James Campbell as officiant. Interment will follow at the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Clarion, Pa. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Baird Funeral Home, 14 Louisa Ave., Greenville.
