Grandpa Hiley was born in Giles Co, VA (now Mercer Co, WV) to Helen Jones, father unknown, and is the grandson of Jeremiah and Susannah Agee Jones. Hiley married Martha Malinda Blankenship in Nov 1867 in Mercer Co, WV and had their first child, Alice in Mercer Co.

They moved to Meigs Co, OH where they had Josephine, Sarah and Will, then moved to Jackson Co, WV where Ed and Alonzo were born (no record of their births found yet so info is from Census records and family).

Next move was to Putnam Co on 18 Mile Creek where they lived the remainder of their days and had several other children, although there are no records of birth on John, Lillie, Emmett and Harriett. Hiley was also Justice of the Peace a few times and was known to be a fair and honest man.

As you go in the gate at Martin Cemetery, the whole left row from front to back are all Jones family, related to Hiley and Martha who had 81 grandchildren. Unfortunately, many do not have markers. I do have a list of the family buried there, given to me by one of the grandchildren who used to maintain the cemetery.
