DEATH TAKES MISS ANNE EASTVOLD,
OLD RESIDENT OF COUNTY
Alex Eastvold and his daughter, Ella, attended last Sunday afternoon the funeral services for Mr. Eastvold's sister, Miss Anne Eastvold, which were held at the Jackson Lake Lutheran church near Amboy. Miss Eastvold passed away last Thursday, June 18th, at the home of Abram Carlson near Delavan, where she has been making her home for several years.
Miss Eastvold was a native of Norway and was born in the city of Stavenger on May 12, 1842, so had just passed her ninety-fourth birthday at the time of her death. When but six years of age she came with her parents to America and for a time they lived at Keokuk, Iowa, then moved to this state and took a homestead about a mile from Amboy. She spent almost her entire life in that community, caring for her parents in their old age and later keeping house for her brother. Some years ago she lived for a time in the home of her brother in Mapleton but more recently has been at the Carlson home where she passed away.
A member of a large family of brothers and sisters, Miss Eastvold is survived by but one brother, Alex Eastvold, of Mapleton. The funeral services held last Sunday were attended by a large number of relatives and friends, who gathered to pay their tribute of affection and regard for one whom they held in the highest esteem. The remains were laid to rest in the Eastvold family lot in the Jackson Lake cemetery.
