Staff Sgt. Thomas J. Carpenter, Jr., is missing in action since March 22nd, according to advices from the War Department. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. T.J. Carpenter, of Georgiana, were notified last week.
His father, T.J. Carpenter, Sr., died at his home in Georgiana Sunday, April 16th. Funeral services were held the next day, with burial in Oakwood cemetery.
T.J. Carpenter was a veteran of World War I who spent a year overseas, in France and in the American Army of Occupation in Germany. He was in a combat division in action against the enemy from July, 1918, through November 11th, Armistice day.
