Matt Schaefer, Sr., aged 85 years, died March 15 at the home of his son south of town. Funeral was held at the Catholic church here Thursday afternoon.

Aged Man Passes Away
Matt Shafer, aged 87 years and four months, died Tuesday morning at the home of his son Matt, who lives southeast of Adams, just across the state line. The deceased has made his home in this vicinity for several years and has many acquaintances among the readers of the Review The funeral was held yesterday (Thursday) forenoon from the Sacred Heart Catholic church in this city, Father Reichl in charge.
Matthias Shafer was born in Germany in 1822. He came to this country in 1873 and settled in Minnesota. His wife died eleven years ago. four sons, John, Matt, Steve and Pete, and one daughter, Annie, survive him. His death came quite suddenly, as he had been ill but a few days.
