Lorene (Hill) Fansler, 106, formerly of Leechburg, died Saturday, Dec. 27, 2008, in Concordia Lutheran Ministries, Jefferson Township, Cabot. Born Sept. 19, 1902, in Leechburg, she was a daughter of the late James R. and Lulu M. (Millen) Hill. She was a member of Hebron Evangelical Lutheran Church, in Leechburg, WELCA and Berean Sunday school class of her church. She also directed and sang in the church choir and played the church organ. Mrs. Fansler was past president of United Lutheran Churches Association for the Eastern Conference and a member of the former Leechburg Garden Club and Women's Club. She enjoyed reading and music, especially the piano and organ. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John William Fansler, on April 27, 1968; brothers, Earl C., R. Nevin, William A. and J. Clyde Hill; and sisters, Jessie Gibson, Grace H. Grine and Mary Hill. Survivors include many nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. Friends will be welcomed by her family from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in CLAWSON'S, Second at Main streets, Leechburg, and from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral ceremonies at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Hebron Evangelical Lutheran Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Kevin E. Anderson. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Gilpin Township.
