Ivanelle Louisa Maria Kuhse, 91, Postville, died Monday, Feb. 2, at Palmer Lutheran Health Center, West Union, following a brief illness.
She was born May 31, 1917, in rural Luana, daughter of Fred and Amanda Doerring Becker. She married Lorenz Kuhse on April 6, 1937, at her parents' home in rural Luana. He died Aug. 7, 1992.
Mrs. Kuhse worked alongside her husband on the farm and also assisted Dr. Palmer and Dr. Kruse with their families for many years in Postville.
Survived by: a daughter, Dorothy (Wally) Embretson of Newhall; a son, Cloy (Ardie) of Postville; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four sisters, Helen Everman of Postville, Margenelle Moeller of Monona, Jeanette (Ewald) Walch of Luana and Gladys (Daryl) Sampson of Castalia; and a sister-in-law, Opal Kuhse of Traer.
Preceded in death by: two infant daughters; a son, Allen; a daughter-in-law, Ann Kuhse; and a grandson.
Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville, with burial in Postville Cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Schutte-Grau Funeral Home, Postville.
