Benjamin Franklin Roark, Sr (1865-1929)
Robert Cicero Roark (1866-1923)
Willis W Roark (1868-1917)
Unity Elizabeth "Mattie" Roark (1869-1950)
William Henry Roark (1877-1947)
Page enlisted in Cobb's Legion at Athens, Georgia, on 1 March 1863. He was a private in Company H (Cavalry Battalion). He was wounded in the retreat from Gettysburg on 6 July 1863 while escorting wounded south. His injury required the removal of a bone from his forearm. By September 1864, Page had returned to service but was furloughed home for retirement.
I have a letter he wrote home from his first camp referencing his uncle A C Baker, brother of his mother, Elizabeth. He was in service only a short time but it certainly affected the rest of his life.
In about 1870, Page moved his family to La Veta, Huerfano County, Colorado. Nancy's parents, Robinson and Elizabeth, as well as some of Nancy's siblings made the trek to La Veta. They are listed in the census for Colorado, a territory at the time, in 1870. Page and Nancy returned to Hall County where they spent the rest of their lives. I have a letter from Page's uncle Reed Roark, stating that Page and family were departing for Colorado.
After Nancy's death, Page married Julia Venecia Smith. They had one son who died the same day he was born. Page's sons by Nancy all liked Julia very much, per his son, Robert Cicero Roark.
